Farewell to My First Hero

          My heart unexpectedly grieves for a lady whom I haven’t personally met. But when I got to think about certain memories of my early childhood it was then that I realized why. I was born during the time the Philippines was at its best as well as, at its worst. Though I am hardly a political analyst or a critique, I was made aware that the Philippines for a brief moment was the “tiger” of Asia. It was the peak of our beloved country’s economic boom. It was the time of Marcos. But it was during his time too, that the country suffered gravely. Then, came the People Power Revolution of 1986. I was 8 years old then. Long before, I had known about the heroism of Dr. Jose Rizal, long before I have learned the bravery of Andres Bonifacio and the Katipuneros and all our heroes, I KNEW CORY AQUINO. She is my first hero. I was in EDSA, shouting her name, during the revolution. I was in Camp Crame during the revolution.  I went inside a few battle tanks, when the soldiers abandoned their posts and their artilleries. Now I know why I grieve, why my spirit feels a bit broken. It’s as if I lost a mother. I lost the symbol of my earliest childhood triumph. In ways I cannot and may never understand, I will always be indebted to this woman I have never even had the privilege of meeting her acquaintance.

             I thank you, President Cory, for the legacy of freedom you have left upon me. For the battles well fought. You may have lost the physical battle of sickness, but you have certainly TRIUMPHED over the hardest battle, called LIFE.

Moving On…

As I’ve said, 2008 is one year I wont forget. For one, I tried my hand in business… unexpectedly, I got employed as an OCS in a reputable company, dotPH. Also worked as a freelance writer (uhhhm, really) . I didn’t know I had the capacity to at least write and actually, be paid for it. LOL.This year I will be focusing more on coming up with original and cover songs as well for Fairground.  I am fortunate that I got another job as content provider for another company, thanks solely to webmonster.

Got the chance to play with Butch of SouthBorder last night at Off the Grill, Timog. Criss wasnt able to perform with us coz hes currently enjoying his honeymoon…. 

something’s wrong

what the heck’s wrong with me. bigla lang ako nilagnat kagabi. i just felt a sudden change with my body temperature. i felt dizzy. my muscles ached. i had chills. kainis. with lots of things to do. now im sick again. im tired of this. i took my vitamins. i paced myself para nga di ako ma stressed out ng todo. to think that i just got well from cough and flu.etc. hay… nakakfrustrate ganitong feeling.

AUG 31 Just stayed home. rest. in the morning though, i had to wake up at 6am for the sunday service at Crossroad. Went home afterwards and rested. Stayed there the whole day. Just confined myself in solitude. Faye constantly kept my mood up.

SEPT 2 Meeting with the band that didnt go so well. My lesson for today… HUMILITY is the BEST POLICY. 

SEPT 5 Nothing much to do. Had gig at tiendesitas. all went well.. 

SEPT 6 ITS NEILs BDAY! my brothers bday. but hes in bicol. Bought new pc sa gilmore. We went to DADs Megamall. party with adrianne, 1st bday. i got to eat dinuguan again. sobrang sarap. wow, nan anakam ulet ako ngayon habang sinusulat ko to, went to globelines, returned modem and telephone unit. everything went well when pia  acted up. gusto umuwi pagod na daw. so nainis c mommy, so wehad to go home. set up ng pc til 3am with tj. thanx bro.

SEPT 7 i picked up alp sa farmers around 10am. worked the whole day for the avp. criss dropped by to give us some more pics. dami tao sa bahay. haina came over. faye had to meet up with haydee at eastwood. tin dropped by with hans. nagpa burger…burger. chat… bash. til around 130am. tapos kami ni alp around 3am. hatid ko sa philcoa. yun lang.

SEPT 8 BDAY SOPHIE ni TINTIN. late for work, had to do lots of stuff. sumabay ako with randy nung gabi papunta kina tin. but we picked up mau first, sa megamall. sobrang lakas ng ulan. came around 930pm. we ate. andun na sina joseph. clarence dropped by lang to give the gift. faye arrived soon after. pinanood namin videos ng banda sa YOUTUBE. if you wanna check them out, look for my account “leifaye14″.game… then kain then uwi. hehehe.

SEPT 9 Puyat pa rin hanggang ngayon, havent had a decent sleep for days now. Gig at Off the Grill. na late konti si rj. but its all good, lakas pa din ng ulan. faye wasnt able to come tonight.

SEPT 10 BEHROUZ with tropa sa ofc. tinuruan ko gumawa ng kabab cina ralph and adrian. they enjoyed it naman. sarap din daw. pinatikim ko ng ox brain… nasarapan din. all in all, nag ENJOY nga sila. just stayed sa room habang tinatapos ni alp yung sa avp. we finished by 1am. hinatid adrian then ralph.

SEP 11 Cramming na coz i had to finish the avp. i still havent conveted it to a movie file yet. i had to revise some parts and had to do it with the movie maker. by 4am di ko pa natapos.

SEP 12 Around12nn ko natapos yung avp na. i had a hard copy na din in case d mag work sa pc. galit c criss i was late for the march sa church. no excuses. hay. pagod pako. went straight to the reception sa dungeon… i forgot the name. food was great. friends jayvee, beng , don manalng, pierre from bread of life were there. may speech pa akong d ko alam na meron. time for the avp… whew, natuwa sila. nagtawanan sa mga pics, yung iba nagandahan sa effects, namove naman yung iba sa music bground. everything went well for me. THANX ALP MOBS. da bes ka tsong… mabuhay ang ALT! si randy naman nag on-site avp. cyempre master ko yan. ganda pa ng music.open bar so we enjoyed the rest of the night. manuod pa sana kami ni faye ng movi, kaso ZZZZZZ nako. 

 SEP 13 first thing i did was tidy up the room kasi sobrang dami na kalat na gamit ko. first time ko magamit pc ko. one week after. hehe. we watched BIG STAN. nung gabi. it was ok lang.

SEP 14 BDAY AJANE. Faye wasnt feeling good. i delivered laundry with lino around 10am. came back agad. stayed with faye. c pia nag pc. sinet up ko account nyang sarili. we watched KUNG-FU PANDA. nakakatuwa pala yun. hehe. after that inayos ko mga applications ko sa pc. kasi wla pa na install na mga apps ko. at 9pm i deliverd laundry again, this time with tj. sinamahan niya ako papunta kina tintin, antipolo to set up the pc there, mae to deliver sabon. bought arcoxia before going home. pagdating dun… kwento lang kami ni faye. labas lang ako ng mga saloobin ko. hay….

   AUG 21 HAPPY BIRTHDAY PAPA! too bad i couldnt go to antipolo to celebrate his bday. nag aral lang ako that night. 

AUG 22, i was not able to go to work today becoz i had a load of songs to study for that night. pressure pressure. i had to take an hour slot to praktis at the studio sa baba ng bahay. after that i went to fayes ofc to bring her hsbc card. we stayed there awhile and then diretso nako ng crossroad. i met the music ministry… willy, harold, pruds, marvin, jess, charlie,anne, sis tess, florence. nakakhiya coz hindi ko kabisado yung songs and pretty much this is my first time to play with the group.but it turned out good. i dint get to play well some songs but its all good. hay buhay nga naman. then Overnight Watch: Wide Awake started na. pstr. anne spoke first. then pstr edgar ramos. the topic is connected with the brown raise. i got to listen up and loosen up after the 2nd set na. kasi basically, tapos na kami except for a few songs kantahin before it ends. everybody was helpful with me by the way. c pruds hleped me out with the areglo, marvin took time to look for songs that i need in his ipod. bisaya rin yung ibang kasma ko, just like me. hehe. we finished by 530am, went straight home.

AUG 23, woke up by 1pm. faye was awake already and busy with laundry stuff. ako i felt i had to clean up my things na. so i did. mejo general cleaning na din.. re arranged stuff. tito lovie dropped by nag order ng pizza kaya we had a delicious merienda today. pretty much dats what i did the whole day. 

AUG 24, woke up at  630am. drank my medicine. nissan had problem. glow plugs busted. hay gastos ulet malamang, i took a cab. 7am i was there already at crossroad. service was not yet finished. when it did, we set up. then before starting, we prayed together. sobrang ganda ng topic. sakto c PASTOR NOEL for today. great timing talaga. next service started at 11am i think. i came to fayes seat. she said she met some of her classmates here a while ago. overtime na kami. around 1pm na natapos. nag abot pa kami ni roji sa bandroom. hehe. its nice to see him here. chat a bit, sama c faye and then we went home. kasi c mang tony nag antay na samin sa haus, we ate lunch ke ate ricas, buy kami ng parts for nissan and i went up, slept a bit. went back down and finally lahat ayos na. thank god. gastos nga lang. 

AUG 25, woke up early. c faye gising na agad. kausap pala niya cna haydee and william, our good friends. theyre planning for the party kasi of there anak. siyempre todo prepare nato. faye is helping out. after the meeting, antok pareho so we slept, the whole afternoon. dumating c jean. she went to divi. pagbalik she picked up the dryer. i forgot we had work pala sa tiendesitas. so yun, prep na kami agad then went straight to tiende. set was good but nakakatamad kasi nasa holiday mode pa ako. faye isnt feeling good ulet. nag sinutab ciya. masakit kasi harap ng muka nya e. randy came over with his friend from singapore.  

AUG 26, back to office. had things to do and finish up. after office, i went home. then off the grill. nameet ko si arvin, schoolmate icps. kasama niya officemates niya. set was good. thor and jp (drummer natural high) jammed. quite tired na when we finished so we just dropped by mercury drugstore after gig, eventually met dew-anne and my inaanak justin there. how hes grown up, and how ive grown old. went home na. took care of joel a bit kasi may sakit simula kahapon. 

AUG 27, office, home, talked with faye about citibank. BIRTHDAY ni KIKO VERSOZA! haha. ang original TOTOY MOLA! tinext ko, di naman sumagot. iba na talaga sikat. hehehe. diba KIX! 

quite okay already

finally, im starting to recover na from my sickly mode. 2days nako medyo d masyado nanghihina. although nahilo ako kagabi after gig at off the grill. i got to talk with an unlikely acquaintance. i got to chat with KELLY BADON. former SIDE A guitar player. ive always respected the group and they are one of the groups i look up to in the local music scene. mahirap sa industriya nato maraming showbiz… but not him. i would say hes easy to get along with. cool lang as well as, reserved. nakipag kwentuhan lang about how difficult it is to get gigs nowadays. pero bilib din ako sa tao kasi hes prepared with every type of set up na pwedeng kailanganin. meron siyang trio group, may pang bar gigs sya na group and pang special shows. talgang ready hehe. parang kami din. laging handa sa kahit anung set up. funeral wake na nga lang ata hindi namin tinugtugan e. anyways, being a prominent musician that he is, he got to split kasi marami pa cyang pupuntahan. mga katropa din sa music scene. medyo d napuno off the grill kanina. cguro dahil pasukan ulet tom.. yun lang for today. 

tough cough

this is the worst month of my year. ive been sick since the start of august, upi til now, i am SICK. had to bear with my cough that doesnt want to come out. 

AUG 13 yung kapitbahay namin sa vancouver, CUBAO ha. namatay. si Ate Guy, as we fondly call her passed away nung morning. nakakalungkot talaga kapag may mga ganitong pagkakataon. i heard about the news lang last thursday. i informed jean na para maka punta sa burol sa imma. 

AUG 15  i went to work but i dint feel so well kaya as soon as my time was up, i packed my things left the ofc, sobrang lakas ng ulan. first time ko nakita ortigas na mejo binaha. binabaha din pala dito. had a hard time tumawid papunta galleria lang a. grabe to. got home, i stayed there na lang. nuod lang kami tv ni faye. 

AUG 16  i got up late para maka rest. stayed in bed lang then by 5pm we were on our way to onstage. MULAN PLAY. met with randy, ms jonalyn, auie n carl, haina. i met fayes friend, cna ryan. ryan introduced me to his girlfriend, len. ka school mate ko pa pala siya. grabe liit ng mundo. kasma mga kids. c criss kasma din. anyways, natapos show around 930pm. it was good show. maintindihan mo yung sotry kahit hindi mo pa napanuod yung mulan or nabasa ba.when we got home dumiretso ako ng imma para bisitahin burol ni ate guy. there i met my childhood friends. nagkita kita kami sa waka. napaka ironic lang sa ganitong oksayon pa mabubuo yung tropa. small world lalong lumiit ng nalaman ko na mag ka trabaho pala keyboardist namin and yung kababata ko c hannche and c bongbong. hehe. stayed up til 2am..

AUG 17 got up early for church hwim. uwi din agad. d ako nakasam sa megamall kasi nga sakit pa din. hay. im tired of this. just slept the whole afternoon. pagdating ni faye, pahinga lang konti, bihis na kasi bday party ni kat ilacad. bigla ako tinamaan ng lagnat by the time we got to ANKIE’s BAR. hay grabe. ngayon pa talaga lumabas sakit ko ulet. i just sat there. tuod. walng imik. patawatawa. gusto ko maki join but my body was floating and gusto nang humiga at magkumot. the 2hrs we stayed there was like forever for me at that time. sabi ko sa kanila bawi na lang ako pag sila nakabisita sa trabaho ko.  went home, may lagnat, uminom lahat ng gamot na pwede inumin. slept agad. cute ni faye kagabe. hehe. 

audition at siete pecados

Im still feeling weak because of cough and colds.. sobra tagal na nito. last week pa start. at this time dapat mejo lumabas na yung ubo, but it still feels sticky. doesnt wanna come out. anyone knows a remedy for this? im having trouble finding time to rest kasi i have a very busy week. tonight, we have gig in manila. sa SIETE PECADOS. its an audition set.  anyway, tiis lang muna konti gagaling din kami ng baby ko… c faye is still sick pa din. pareho pa kami nag hihikahos gumaling, well, i guess this is it for now… im  updating lang. 

missing angkol leo

im back again. battered and bruised. penniless. haha. 

AUG 4.. got sick again. cramps pa rin. sabi nila amoebiasis. im not sure yet. took 3 types of medicine, MAALOX, MOTILIUM, BUSCOPAN. isang antacid, anti motility ung isa, and anti spasm naman ung last. un nadla din. timigil ng konti sakit. di pa ako nag pa check up. sayang yung day ko. forced ako to rest. napilitan pa c faye mag half day to take care of me. ayyyy sweet. galing talaga mag alaga. had to work at night sa tiendesitas! walang reliever. kahit mejo matmalay nag survive pa din sa gig.

AUG 5-6.. report for work but still weak. at off the grill, i got the chance to see a friend of ours from a bar in manila.. sa UNPLUGGED. c joseph dropped by with his wife. got to chat a bit. but was feeling so weak pa din.

AUG7-8.. DOWN WITH THE FLU! hay… mejo not my week. just came from spasms, ngayon naman fever. biniro nga ako ni faye… masyado daw ako na stress kasi il be closing down my ANGKOL LEO’s  this week. wag daw ako masyado mag isip. i cant help but miss my angkol leo kasipinaghirapan namin itayo yun and i dint get the cahnce to really push it on. malakas pa man din sana.faye and i were stuck in bed dahil talgang matindi strain ng flu virus ngayon. ewan ko. pag tinamaan ka nga naman ng lintek, hahaha. anyways, exam week din ni pia, so timing na andun din kami sa haus. weak but still managed to review her lessons. 

Medyo may abang factor kami ni faye sa OLYMPICS. lalo na opening ceremonies. kasi maraming features yung preparation ng china sa discvovery channel. so medyo na hype kami sa pagdating ng olpympics ds year. and isa pa, we were brought up kasi by our papa…  pinapa watch nya kami ng ganito dati pa. sayang nga wala pa cilang cable sa antipolo kaya malamang d nila napanuod yung opening.

AUG 9.. bday ni andy and rocco sa rosewood pointe taguig.

AUG 10.. wasnt able to go to church. delivered posh towels. canvass washing machine.. CLOSE ANGKOL LEO! eqpmnts were transferred na dito sa cubao. jean, my sister, stayed sa haus.. typed angels project. sample nya din kami ng shake nya. it was good. but we need to make improvemnts.

AUG 11.. Finally went to work but still weak from the flu. gig at tiendesitas, andun ulet sina joseph. nanuod. and tanta..

sick yesterday

  i was sick yesterday. may nakain akong nuts na medyo hindi na bago. i suffered from severe abdominal cramps tapos na-dehydrate pako. hirap magkasakit tlaga. bed rest the whole day. i couldnt even get up to check my mail. at night i still had to rehearse kasi na set na yung time fro praktis sa studio. first time ni cla mag back-up. sa bleeding love. yun lang pala kulang. hehe. c tin pumunta din para mag review nung ibang songs. we ate sa yellow ice cream after praktis. kwentuhan lang.

yung laundry ng posh dumating na din yestrday. start na kami with the laundry business. hehe.

catching up with friends

my friend and former bandmate rico sobrevinas (oour former sax player) and his wife marj came to our show at off the grill last night. its nice to catch up with friends. we get to share our lives once again. sa sobrang busy kasi namin wala na kaming time to even text man lang. isa sa mga close friend ko c rix. hes fun to be with and marami na rin kasi kaming pinagdaanan na hirap at saya. its good to know hes okay with life. mejo maganda ang work ni marj, hes waiting for a bhaye na hopefully would come by next month. anyways, usap lang kami about my tindahan, and new work. kulitan. nag jam siya with us on most of our 2nd and 3rd sets. hopefully magkita ulet kami after his bday! hehe sa aug6. paslamat ka rix, di ko sinabi lapit na bday mo kundi ikaw sumagot ng pagkain namin. hahahaha. went home so tired but its all good. finally nag okay na yung proposal ni faye sa laundry consignment namn with poshnails. so meron na naman kaming pagkakapuyatan. blessings always come.thats why were always thankful and grateful to Him!

 July 26, i spent the whole day updating my friendster, sulit.com.ph, multiply, fairground.ph. dami ko kasi in-upload na pix, vids and music. anyways, il try to be prompt sa pag post ng pics. faye wasnt feeling very well. she stayed home to rest. its rare nowadays na maka stay lang kami sa house dahil sobra daming activities. 

July 27, we went to church at 1030am. The Brown Raise Seminar, i thought i was going to hear coach noel tan speak. inintroduce nya lang si pastor anne pala. i had hoped to attend the seminar after the service but i had too many things to do pa. sayang. nagkita nila criss, ate at reyes barbecue. siyempre c pia… pusit order. pareho kami mahilig sa seafood. nag ikot sandali sa greenbelt. finally nakahanap si faye ng rubber cover para sa steering wheel nya. cyempre mura. tuwang tuwa. hihihi. ako bumili ng celfone holder. gamit ko na nga ngayon sa opis e. sobra lakas ng ulan. nag black-out sandali. then, we all went to mega mall. ksama c criss. dun cya nag gym. visit namin jayvee(color it red) before going to globelines. ako naman natuwa kasi, i had my subscription with them terminated kasi ilipat ko na yung tindahan sa antipolo. the great thing about it was, the girl there waived my pre-termination charges. sobrang thankful ako sa kanya. talagang a lot of good things happen to you if you just know how to communicate with other people noh. basta maganda lang ang pagkausap mo.. after that, we went to adidas. faye bought me shoes. black sneakers. ganda-ganda. umikot kami sa toy kingdom. hehe. natuwa ako dun. sarap bumalik sa pagkabata at maglaro. kami ni faye kwentuhan lang dun. after nun, uwi na. hatid lang namin c pia sa house and then diretso ke may sa bagong barrio. namatay kasi yung brother nya. rheumatic heart. parang sakit ng bestfriend ko namatay din when we were in grade5. c juven. we stayed there. kinumusta c may and alis din after an hour and a half. went home. tired but altogether happy. sa mga simple miracles na nangyari within the day. we watched The Incredible Hulk before going to sleep.

busy 2 weeks

My boss gave me  a task last week. challenging. thats why i dint get the chance to post up. but its all good. mas masaya pag maraming ginagawa sa work kesa naka prente ka lang diba? for the longest time, hindi na kami nakakapag rehearse ng banda. finally JULY 17 naka pag rehearse din. but its not for us. its for a show with christian bautista. hehe. may na discover ako.. galing pala kumanta ng bass player namin na si clarence garcia aka gabby c. hehe. pero rock gusto niya kantahin. were talking about incorporating some classic tunes nung glam rock era with our sets sa gigs. just for laughs. tingnan natin. 

JULY 19, we left for Cagayan De Oroat 4:15am via cebu pacific. ahh the beautiful sunrise, i could see from 32,000feet. sarap talaga mag nature trip. hehe. we got there by 5:45am. it was a cold morning. ewan ko bakit ang lamig dun. cguro dahil maraming bundok pa. and trees and plants. at 7am went straight to the hotel. ordered some breakfast before taking an hour hour nap. 930am we were on our way to theconcert hall <gymansium> hehe. sa corpus christi school. something something.nag dunkin nga pala muna kami. sponsor kasi. sarap icy choco! 

We got there. set up gamit, anotk pa. init. sound check muna. dumating c christian. run thru ng mga medleys. cguro around an hour. may picture pa kami habang nagpapraktis. post ko na lang. after run thru, we dropped by a pasalubong store somewhere near chris’ hotel. bought some roasted peanuts, butterscotch, and yung bread na may sobrang tamis na filling sa loob. grabe yun. eeepppp! tamis.

We ate lunch after that. sponsored pa rin. not so good food so i wont talk about it na lang. whew finally makakatulog na ko. kasama ko cymepre c faye. hay sarap matulog. woke up around 5pm coz we had to prep up for the show. 7pm call time. we were ready by 7pm. they picked us up at 8pm. pagdating dun, took a 10min break then show time na. as always, pag ke christian, ang maririnig mo lang is yung hiyawan ng mga tao kesa sa kanta niya. iba talaga. hehe. we finished around 10pm. whew. kapagod, but its all good. we went straight back to the hotel, nag order ng mcdonalds… hehehe. mga pare SKY IS THE LIMIT, ika nga ni clarence! bwahahaha. we talked, bonded up til 2am, we all had to sleep coz tomorrow may mga kanya kanyang gawain na naman.

JULY20, flight was at 620am, no delays naman thank god. we got back to manila 715am. went straight to greenbelt. dun na kami naghiwalay nila hannche and clarence. magkasam kami ni faye, attended service 8am. after that we ate breakfast at jollibee. before going home. then we slept na ulet. meeting with jean re: angkol leo that night. shewent home at 1am the ff. day.

i first heard this song when i was on vacation sa cebu last 1995. i came across a cassette tape of my brother, neil. i listened to it. i listened and i loved it since then. this song was sung by don henley from the eagles. you know. yung kumanta ng hotel california. kaso he sang this for his last solo album. when i read the lyrics, it struck me hard. kasi in essence, it was all about forgiveness. cno ba sa atin ang madaling magpatawad? mahirap diba? almost always, the bitterness eats you up inside. and youve got nothing except your pride…

not her day

faye lost her wallet in the office. somebody took it while they were in the pantry having their lunch break. so sad. kasi ang hirap ng nananakawan. daming hassle. anyways, im treating her dinner or nuod sine tonight. para naman malibang bbe ko. wawa naman. but theres always something good in every bad situation diba. hay. and im listening to beethovens “moonlight sonata” while writing this. nakak depress. try it.

Good Morning Cubao

I had a very busy weekend with my family. We watched BIG(Tom Hanks) when i got home from work last friday. Gusto ko talaga mapanuod ni pia yun  kc it has a moral lesson na bagay for kids. Baliktad, tayong mga adults naman, trying hard magpaka bata. Kasi ang sarap maging bata. Well at least from my experience. Lots of good memories. Last saturday we had a small gathering sa compound kasi bday ni andy. Happy Bday Andy! We ate and talked. after the celebration we got back sa house and stayed there. practice cila ng “my girl”. On Sunday, we went to Bread in the am. We ate lunch with Criss sa TokyoTokyo. Punta ng landmark, looked for pias dress and shoes. wala naman kami nahanap. Globelines, inquired abt the transfer. Went home for a while. We went to trinoma naman. Then went to SM The Block. Launch ng album ni tintin. Then ikot ulet dun. finally nakahanap kami  ng damit. pati c faye naka buy na din. Wow na Wow yung dress nya. elegant black. ganda. we went home. so tired. i just ate dinner and we all went to bed. 11pm
